Fully covered cheerleaders!

  • May. 12th, 2008 at 11:06 AM
Heh.

The cheerleaders of Deccan Chargers and Knight Riders were seen with their bodies fully covered. Even the dancers and singers, who entertained the spectators before the start of the match, were fully covered.

Pakistan's Shahid Afridi, who is playing for Deccan Chargers, had also raised an objection to the cheerleaders' performance during the matches saying it would distract the players.

So are they going to wear burqa and dance?!

Man!...that would be really distracting to me...I'm thinking of the dementors in Harry Potter!

The art of seduction

"Cheerleaders are meant to seduce the crowd":Bal Thackeray

He adds,
"At a time when farmers in Vidarbha and Marathwada
region are committing suicide because they are burdened by debts, it is
not clear what the people, who are pumping money to bring cheerleaders,
want to convey"

WTF!

Harbhajan slaps Sreesanth.

Here's what Amit Varma had to say:

"Both the players involved are characters—Sreesanth’s an immature buffoon, Bhajji’s an unmannered lout—but regardless of whether Sreesanth really said something as innocuous as “hard luck,” Harbhajan deserves to have his ass kicked by the authorities."

Sreesanth's antics on the field used to get on my nerves and I feel he really deserved one. I'd like to think Bhajji gave it on my behalf. 'Immature buffoon'...could anyone come up with a better description?!

Amit Varma(via email), "If you told me before this tournament that Player X would slap Player Y and Player Y would cry on the field, and you asked me to guess who X and Y were, these are exactly the two names I (anyone!) would come up with!"

Update: I'm surprised Rediff hasn't reported this incident yet...hmm any reason?!

More updates: “He didn't slap me. May be the handshake was in the wrong place,” Sreesanth said.
CNN-IBN reports.

Isn't this fun?!

Finally Rediff reports.

D/L Method, What’s that?

  • Apr. 11th, 2008 at 6:23 PM

This article was written by a very good friend of mine, Arunkumar P.T.(a cricket buff of course!).

Are you a real cricket fan? Then u should have heard a lot of D/L . But still not many understand the calculations behind this. Here I intend to explain how it works and the major parts of “Rain rule”.

In the world of cricket “Duckworth-Lewis method” is a statistical way of calculating the target score for the team batting second in a one–day international or twenty-20 when overs have been lost by a suspension of play due to weather or any other circumstances. It is widely accepted to be a fair and accurate method of setting a target score. The revision is not in proportion to the numbers of overs the two sides can receive but is in accordance with the run-scoring resources (overs and wickets) the two sides have at their disposal.

Cuts & Pastes

  • Oct. 18th, 2007 at 10:25 AM
its been sometime since i've 'written' anything in this blog...mostly because im too lazy to update it and found it easier to cut and paste some good articles or words i come across..very typical of me!..yea ture!..in fact the first 2 reports i submitted to my professor was a page full of 'cuts and pastes' from various sources and after that my prof gave a indirect hint to it by saying "you should attend a seminar on plagiarism"!!  hmm! :-| i got the message..since then i've tried to write on my own but with little success..hopefully i'll improve with time!

but this 'cut-paste' syndrome is not limited to me only i've noticed this in couple of websites too even popular ones. one such site is rediff.com!..sometimes i get the feeling its equivalent to a yellow paper in the cyberworld. but then again cudnt find a better site to get the cricket score update!
speaking of which, what a shameful loss to the aussies....india has lost several times before but the speciality of this time was that indian team were acting as if they were 'world champions' ...yea true they won the  T20 world cup but they forgot..its T20!! i was telling my friend recently that i felt it was an another improvised version of cricket like we used to play back in high school. in high we had made a game called 'Leg cricket' ...where we 'bat' with our leg! we were 'world champions' in that..i dont think even the aussies can beat us!! ;)
there are loads of stories that happend in school which i think i can compile into a book!...i believe my school years were the best phase of my life. i 'lived' there for 12yrs..it was home for me. oh! recently i was reading the book 'Swami and friends' of R.K.Narayan..it was a treat to read it. the way in which he has described each incident was simply superb..i believe he succeeded in bringing out the exact emotions and thoughts a child would have in a given situation...he described almost every single minute detail in the simplest language..and i think thats the beauty about the book! i never knew childhood incident could this worthy of writing!
The closest i've come to reading to such stories was from my dad. who has a thousand stories tell and can write it equally well. actually i found my dads narration a bit more entertaining but i believe thats because all the characters in his stories are very much known to me.
